Working with confidential matters, the incumbent provides guidance on a range of administrative Human Resources issues to the assigned client group. This position will also be responsible for Human Resource office reception.

This is a complex organization with multiple collective agreements and one that is constantly adapting to the movement of students within our schools.Ìý The ability to enter and maintain data accurately, complete straightforward analyses and provide advice to administrative staff in the schools regarding transactions is key to success.Ìý So too, is an advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet creation and the flow of data to payroll.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of a one (1) year post-secondary office administration program or equivalent including, or supplemented by, courses in Human Resources, payroll/accounting applications and/or benefits administration
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in Human Resources, Payroll or Benefits

The Buyer procures a variety of specific goods, using different competitive bid methods such as Requests for Quotation, Requests for Proposal, Tenders, and recommending single source supply. The Buyer interprets and analyzes responses based on reliability, quality, price, specifications, delivery options, terms and conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation (three year program). Lesser qualified candidates may be considered for this role if they are enrolled in or willing to enroll in a recognized procurement training program that progresses towards this designation. May consider equivalent combinations of post- secondary and related experience.
  • At least two years of specific experience OR 3 years of related experience.
  • Experience working in a purchasing capacity within a medium to large, high volume computerized public sector organization.

Requirements for acceptance into the program

  • Legally able to work in Canada upon completion of the program
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • One (1) year Education Assistant or Community Support Worker certificate or equivalent combination of post-secondary courses in child/adolescent development, or behavior management including non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children
  • First Aid and CPR certified, or willingness to get certified
  • Ability to commit each day of the full three-week course (please do not apply if you cannot attend these dates)

In this variety-filled role, you may also attend meetings with teachers, parents and therapists, or assist in the student’s personal care such as feeding, hygiene or toileting.

Along with Grade 12 (or the equivalent) and current Emergency First Aid and CPR Level B/C certification, you have completed either a Community Support Worker or Educational Assistant Program certificate, or equivalent post-secondary courses in child or adolescent development or behaviour management. One year of experience working with people with special needs is expected; experience in a school setting would be strongly preferred.

The District Educational Assistant (DEA), under the general direction of the Teacher and the supervision of the Principal, proactively intervenes and supports appropriate student behaviour. The DEA provides academic assistance to students and facilitates the inclusion of the student in the classroom and school environment or a district behaviour program. The DEA works with students identified by the District Inclusive Learning Team. This position works with students with the most challenging behaviours, generally in the low incidence or intense behaviour categories. The student(s) often exhibit aggressive, defiant, violent and/or non-compliant behaviour and has a District Safety Plan.

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • One (1) year Education Assistant or Community Support Worker certificate or equivalent combination of post-secondary courses in child/adolescent social/emotional development
  • Current Level One First Aid
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate
  • Course work related to autism and other related disorders
  • One (1) year specific experience working with persons with extremely challenging behaviours and/or complex needs.

This is a continuing position that falls within the CUPE 947 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $33.84 per hour based on a 28 hour work week (Monday- Friday 8:37am – 2:37pm). Responsible to the Maintenance Manager, through the Grounds Foreman, the Irrigation Technician designs, installs, repairs and maintains underground and overall irrigation systems including PVC piping and fittings, valves, backflow prevention devices, various types of sprinkler heads and irrigation control devices.

Education and Experience:

  • Legally Able to work in Canada
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License
  • Has obtained Level 2 Certification as issued by the IIABC, and has obtained Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor certification as issued by the IIABC
  • Possesses certification in Low Voltage electrical as issued by the Province of BC and have experienceÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý with low voltage wiring
  • Has two (2) or more years of specific experience working as an irrigation technician on commercialÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý irrigation systems including an ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a wide variety of stakeholders, includingÌý other workers, administrators, supervisors, teaching staff, students and the public
  • Possesses working knowledge of the standards, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipmentÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý used for the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems including PVC piping and fittings, valves, backflow prevention devices, various types of sprinkler heads and irrigation controlÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý devices
  • Understands water conservation practices related to the various soils, grasses, plants and trees found onÌý school district sites and can supervise other workers involved in irrigation projects and watering
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule daily work to ensure regular and emergent repairs are handledÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý efficiently
  • Must be able to use digital technology; including email, online databases and facilities managementÌý Ìý Ìý Ìý Ìý software used by School District #61

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

The Student Supervisor ensures the safety and wellbeing of students, typically during non-class time, while arriving, leaving or on school property. Supervisors work in all weather during the school year. The Library Clerk supports the operation of the library through the processing and maintenance of learning resources using an automated library system, assisting staff and students find resources, and by providing general clerical and technical support to the teacher-librarian.

ÌýEducation and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of some office administration courses
  • Over 6 months recent office experience
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Knowledge of database management, word processing, spreadsheet and email applications

Reporting to the Human Resource Services Manager, the Human Resources Systems Specialist – Records provides procedural guidance to and maintains accurate employment information for all District employees. The incumbent will process a variety of forms, reports, and correspondence and will access, input and revise data in the computerized Human Resources system (PRM). Working with confidential matters, the incumbent provides guidance on a range of administrative Human Resources issues to the assigned client group.

This is a complex organization with multiple collective agreements and one that is constantly adapting to the movement of students within our schools.Ìý The ability to enter and maintain data accurately, complete straightforward analyses and provide advice to administrative staff in the schools regarding transactions is key to success.Ìý So too, is an advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet creation and the flow of data to payroll.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of a one (1) year post-secondary office administration program or equivalent including, or supplemented by, courses in Human Resources, payroll/accounting applications and/or benefits administration
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in Human Resources, Payroll or Benefits
  • Extensive experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database management and records management

ÌýThe Payroll Specialist is the first contact for payroll and benefit related questions from employees and external agencies.


Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate
  • Two (2) years’ specific experience in a large automated payroll office (experience working with multiple payroll registers preferred)

Working under the direction of a teacher and the supervision of a Principal, you will work directly with students to provide a wide range of academic assistance, monitoring behaviour and facilitating integration in the classroom and school environment.

No two days will be the same—you will be called on to facilitate student learning individually or in small groups, document daily progress, support students in learning social behaviour or life skills, supervise during recess or lunch and organize classroom items. In this variety-filled role, you may also attend meetings with teachers, parents and therapists, or assist in the student’s personal care such as feeding, hygiene or toileting.

Along with Grade 12 (or the equivalent) and current First Aid and CPR certification, you have completed either a Community Support Worker or Educational Assistant Program certificate, or equivalent post-secondary courses in child or adolescent development or behaviour management. One year of experience working with people with special needs is expected; experience in a school setting would be strongly preferred.

Reporting to the Associate Secretary Treasurer, the Administrative Assistant – Purchasing Services provides administrative services in support of the acquisition of goods and services and the tracking of expenditures related to the use of purchasing cards across the District. The position also manages the Purchasing Services Department’s administrative services including coordinating office procedures, managing records, and monitoring accounts. The position operates in an environment with a high volume of work, constant interruptions and changing priorities.

The successful candidate must have Grade 12 or equivalent and One (1) year post-secondary Office Administration Certificate including course work in basic accounting, records management and computer skills, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Must demonstrate bookkeeping competency by passing a related District bookkeeping test), plus two (2) years advanced administrative experience.

Accounts Clerk – Schools performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions in support of the school administrative team. Responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, monitoring school budgets, reconciling bank accounts, maintaining accurate financial records and allocating purchasing card expenses. The Accounts Clerk – Schools must be able to perform these and other duties while working in a busy school office environment with constant interruptions; yet still meeting the needs of students, parents and teachers.

The successful candidate must have Grade 12 or equivalent and completion of Financial Accounting 1 or equivalent, plus two (2) years specific financial accounting experience in a large automated financial department. A basic knowledge of fund accounting is required and experience with computerized accounting programs, Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet applications would be an asset. Qualifications;

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
  • Machine Fitter Trade Certification or a recognized trade certification in a related field as issued or recognized by the Province of B.C. that requires proficiency working according to very precise specifications; operating precision metal cutting and grinding machines such as lathes, planers, milling machines, saws, drills, shapers, boring mills and grinders.
  • Completion of five (5) or more years of specific experience in similar duties is required

The School Assistant provides administrative support in a busy school setting, connecting parents and students with school staff and collecting and recording data used in the operation of the school.

Reporting to the Human Resource Services Manager, the Human Resources Systems Specialist – Records provides procedural guidance to and maintains accurate employment information for all District employees. The incumbent will process a variety of forms, reports, and correspondence and will access, input and revise data in the computerized Human Resources system (PRM). Working with confidential matters, the incumbent provides guidance on a range of administrative Human Resources issues to the assigned client group. This position will also be responsible for Human Resource office reception.

This is a complex organization with multiple collective agreements and one that is constantly adapting to the movement of students within our schools.Ìý The ability to enter and maintain data accurately, complete straightforward analyses and provide advice to administrative staff in the schools regarding transactions is key to success.Ìý So too, is an advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet creation and the flow of data to payroll.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of a one (1) year post-secondary office administration program or equivalent including, or supplemented by, courses in Human Resources, payroll/accounting applications and/or benefits administration
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in Human Resources, Payroll or Benefits
  • Extensive experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database management and records management
